The SCIP Database is the ECHA database of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in articles or in complex objects (products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC). Any company that is supplying an article containing an SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) on the Candidate List Substances with a concentration above 0.1% in weight in the European market are required to submit detailed information on the articles to the ECHA SCIP database from January 5th, 2021 onwards.

The description of the article or the complex object should be in the first section. In this section 7 fields are mandatory to be filled out of 14 fields. The mandatory information includes the categorization of the article or complex product and the safe use information.
The details of substance of concern should be in the second section. If the article within a complex object has the substance of concern above 0.1%, the details must be provided. In this section there are five mandatory categories out of the eight. Important information that must be provided in SCIP Report is the category of the material or the mixture containing the SVHC. This enables the identification of relevant materials based on its waste streams.
